ONE TINLEY PARK

Nancy O’Connor is Tinley Park’s current Village Clerk and is running for a second term in the April 2023 election as part of the One Tinley Park team. Nancy is a long-time volunteer and outspoken community activist. Since 2016, Nancy has worked to raise awareness of the conditions at the Tinley Park Mental Health Center (TPMHC) which the State of Illinois abandoned years earlier. Nancy spoke regularly at public meetings, working with local and regional media to inform the public about the declining conditions of the property.

In 2019, Nancy filed a complaint with the US EPA. She was in regular contact with the deputy director of the Illinois EPA for months and convinced them to open a formal investigation. Moving from private citizen to Village Clerk has not diminished Nancy’s resolve or sense of urgency. Fighting for the TPMHC cleanup remains among her top priorities in her role as Tinley Park’s Village Clerk.

In early 2020, with COVID-19 putting Tinley Park’s senior citizens at risk, Nancy co-founded the Tinley Park Citizen Volunteer Committee in a joint effort with the Village’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA). At the pandemic’s height, with growing uncertainty and anxiety, Nancy’s Committee contacted more than 10,000 seniors to help meet their material needs or provide care, comfort, and a friendly voice in a frightening time. The Committee’s volunteers assisted with grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups, and well-being checks to follow up on prior calls. Nancy and her husband Lou have lived in Tinley Park for 10 years, owning and operating a local small business until her recent retirement. Nancy and Lou love to travel, snuggle with their dalmatian, Dexter, and enjoy spending time with her two daughters, sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren. Nancy is a constant spectator, fan, and photographer at all their sporting events and activities.

As Tinley Park’s Village Clerk, Nancy understands and respects her office's 130 years of tradition. Under Nancy's leadership, the Clerk’s Office continues to provide excellent resident services, and streamlined processes, and continually seeks innovative solutions for recording and safeguarding Village records. Nancy is deeply committed to Tinley Park and enthusiastic about the opportunity to help ensure the Village continues its current path of stability and prosperity. Nancy's passions are her strengths, including her love of family, community engagement, small-business operations, expertise on the mental health center property, and her unyielding commitment to integrity. She is confident she can continue to deliver value to the residents through her service as Village Clerk.
