Michael Mueller
Michael Mueller is a Village of Tinley Park Trustee and serves as Mayor Pro Tem. First elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, Michael is running for re-election in April 2027 as part of the One Tinley Park team. Outside Village Hall, he is Executive Director of Software Development at a global telecommunications software company.
Today, Michael is the Trustee Liaison to the Village’s Public Works Department and Chair of the Public Works Committee, overseeing the streets, water system, and infrastructure that residents rely on every day.
Harmony Square
The accomplishment Michael is most proud of is the completion of Harmony Square, the new downtown plaza on North Street. Opened in July 2025, the 1.6-acre plaza features a performance stage, a turf lawn, and a splash pad that becomes an ice rink in the winter. In its first seven months, Harmony Square drew roughly a quarter million people to concerts and special events and was named an American Public Works Association Southwest Branch Project of the Year. It has become the gathering place at the heart of Tinley Park’s downtown.
Getting Our Water Fund Back on Track
Michael also helped put the Village’s water fund back on solid financial footing. It took a difficult decision: water rates for residents went up. Michael believes in being straightforward about that trade-off. A fully funded water system means safe, reliable water and the ability to maintain the pipes and mains beneath our streets for years to come, rather than passing a bigger problem on to the next generation.
A Record of Results
During his first term, Michael served as liaison to the Community Development and Marketing Departments and chaired both committees. He worked with the Board to bring The Boulevard at Central Station and the Loyola Medical Campus at 179th Street and LaGrange Road to Tinley Park, along with new businesses such as Avocado Theory, two standalone Starbucks, the Union Bar & Grill, and a new Gas & Wash. That economic growth helped the Village weather the COVID-19 pandemic while keeping taxes as low as possible. During the pandemic, Michael pushed for policies that kept businesses open and residents safe, including expanded outdoor dining.
Family and Community
With his wife, Tracy, and their two boys, Michael lives in Tinley Park’s Brookside Glen neighborhood, located in the Will County section of the Village south of Interstate 80. Michael and his family are regular parishioners at Tinley Park’s St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Catholic Church.
Through strong decision-making, hard work, and an open dialogue with businesses and residents, Michael will continue to make Tinley Park safer, strengthen its sense of community, and keep its finances and infrastructure on solid ground.
