Kenneth Shaw
Kenneth “Ken” Shaw was elected to the Village of Tinley Park’s Board of Trustees in 2023 and is running for re-election in April 2027 as part of the One Tinley Park team. He chairs the Village Board’s Finance Committee. Ken has been active in local government for more than 25 years, including service as a Tinley Park Plan Commissioner and Chairman beginning in 2016, on the Zoning Boards of Appeals for Bolingbrook and Lockport, and as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Bolingbrook Police Department.
Ken has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, and risk management in the manufacturing, construction, printing, non-profit, aerospace, and technology industries. Ken spent 10 years in management with the former home center retailer Builders Square, landing at the Tinley Park store in 1996, where he met his wife, Roslyn, an occupational therapist specializing in pediatrics.
Ken, Roslyn, and their daughters, Cadence and Annabelle, live in the Parkside neighborhood in the heart of Tinley Park’s downtown. The Shaws are active members of Tinley Park’s St. Julie Billiart Catholic Parish, with Roslyn on the Parish Council and Ken on the Parish Media Ministry. Ken has served on the boards of local non-profit organizations, including as a founding Board Member and Treasurer for Filling the Gap, NFP, from 2018 to 2022.
Ken has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration, both from DePaul University. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Ken served in the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division as a communications specialist with the 14th Infantry Regiment and is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Ken learned about municipal government and civic responsibility at a young age. As one of its first families, Ken’s parents were active in Bolingbrook’s 1965 incorporation, and his father, Al, was one of its earliest Trustees. Like Tinley Park, Bolingbrook expanded rapidly in the 1970s and ’80s. Ken became interested in community development in those years and saw firsthand how much a growing community depends on focused, accountable leadership. Ken is proud to have worked closely throughout the community with many of his fellow One Tinley Park team members since 2016 and is proud to serve alongside them on the Village Board, continuing to add to the strong record of success.
